Operation Minnesota Nice

 

Operation Minnesota Nice is an organization that is dedicated to sending care packages to our men and women in the military overseas. The care packages are full of everyday items as well as special items. The intention is to show our support of them and remind them that we care. This past month I had a chance to talk with a wonderful customer by the name of Cynthia who is involved with making handcrafted cards for Operation Minnesota Nice. We were so excited about the idea that Smudges has decided to support our troops by setting up a collection site at Smudges for the Chanhassen/Eden Prairie Unit of Operation Minnesota Nice. We know how much you all love to make cards and what better use for them than to get them to people who really need them. All of the donated cards will be given to our troops overseas to write messages and send to their friends and family. It is difficult for our men and women in the military to find cards to send so this is a way we can make it easier for them to stay in touch with family and friends back home.

 

We will be setting up a drop box in Smudges starting Monday, January 29 that will be marked "Operation Minnesota Nice" Feel free to stop by the store and donate your handmade cards. We know that when we all pull together, we can make a huge difference.

Going forward, we might set up certain nights during the month for you to use our classroom to design your cards. When we set up the dates, we will forward them to you.

We've included a calendar of the dates that Operation Minnesota Nice will be meeting to send care packeges so you can keep the dates handy. To make sure we deliver them in time for packaging, we are requesting that you drop off your cards at least two days before the deadline listed below. Keep in mind that Birthday cards and general category cards are always in need as well.
